Clean Energy Works is announcing leadership transitions that position the organization for its next chapter of growth and impact.
Tamara Jones, who led the organization as Co-Executive Director through five years of rapid growth, has retired, capping a career dedicated to advancing equity through work to mobilize investment in better buildings, sustainable agriculture, and more just energy transitions. Since joining the organization in 2021, Tamara led the transformation of the organization’s capacity and resources, positioning Clean Energy Works to better support advocates for inclusive utility investment and the broader clean energy economy. Tamara’s leadership shaped the organization’s culture and values, embedding a deep commitment to equity in both its operations and its approach to advancing clean energy transitions. Her leadership leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to guide Clean Energy Works in the years ahead. The organization is deeply grateful for her vision and contributions.
Founder and Co-Executive Director Holmes Hummel has made a planned transition to strategic advisor. Holmes is also a member of the Board of Directors, which helps ensure continuity and support for the organization’s long-term priorities stewarded by the full Board, including Paula Glover, Marilynn Marsh-Robinson, Destenie Nock, Richard Juang, Randall Frazier, and Ayushi Vig.
To sustain Clean Energy Works’ momentum, the Board has appointed Deputy Executive Director Matt Flaherty to serve as Interim Executive Director. Since joining Clean Energy Works in 2022, Matt has played a key role in advancing the organization’s mission and managing a majority of its field work with partners. His strong track record of delivering results reflects his deep commitment to the organization’s values in building partnerships and engaging stakeholders to catalyze adoption of inclusive utility investments.
The Board of Directors will soon be conducting an open search for the organization’s next Executive Director. We are committed to a thoughtful and transparent transition process and will share updates as the position posting becomes available.
